Living life on Purpose
The day begins with sleepiness. It drones on with the usual cup of coffee, and more tiredness. On the way to work, a second cup of coffee seems to do no good, and the cycle of exhaustion weighs upon the mind. After surviving another endless traffic jam, you get into your office realizing you might need another cup to start your engines. The traffic jams slow time like a clog in an hourglass and once the workday finally begins, it appears that another caffeine beverage might be necessary. Eight hours of labour and few more cups of coffee pass and traffic repeats itself like a boring movie played backwards. There, of course, were plans to go to the gym, and plans to improve, but exhaustion sets in and seems to magnetize the couch. The television’s light is hypnotising and the eyes slowly close. It is hard to believe that the days pass this way, though it is a familiar feeling to most. Children jump out of bed, totally excited for another day, and never imagine this feeling—never dream of it. It is only now that the true horror of life as it is can be clearly examined. This is called survival mode, and it is a waste of what was once considered precious: life.
Only few of the dour, mindless creatures that trudge this earth live with excitement and a tremendous amount of energy each and every day. It is because they live on purpose. According to some research, less than three percent of people have taken the time to write down their life’s goals. With only one precious life to live, is it amazing that they are never written down, especially when so much time is spent planning the silly things we think are important, such as buying a house. Uncovering one’s purpose involves going to a quiet place so that concentration can take over in the absence of interruption. Thinking clearly is impossible at work, with the swirling daily monotony crashing down upon one’s head. Moments from the core of one’s heart should be the focus of this quiet time–moments when the heart was alive with passion and cared about the future. The dreams that poke and prod life in one direction after another may have truly meant something, so it is important to try to remember them all. Each and every day this concentration must persist, formulating the perfect sequence of events. More importantly, the perfect picture of success must become the wallpaper of the mind.
This kind of success hinges on special skills and talents. In order to reveal these traits it takes deep thought on the matter of one’s achievements. It must be something that is paramount in the mind and have a kind of working passion attached to it. Once this is complete, the ten most exceptional skills must be selected, if there are so many. The physical, mental, spiritual, financial, and social aspects of life must each have a corresponding goal on this list, so the minimum is really five. These ten goals must be so important that, once achieved, life can be reviewed with no regret and with utter contentment. This is the most important list one can ever make: the top life goals list. Congratulations are in order for those who have truly found their life’s purpose. Choosing one of these goals and committing oneself to doing anything and everything that is necessary to make it happen is called living on purpose.
